Reporting directly to the Senior Director, Business Development, the Industrial Agriculture Building Sales Consultant is responsible for contributing towards the growth of our Norseman Structures business, while servicing and maintaining new and existing customers. The Sales Consultant will also be responsible for generating new potential customers on an ongoing basis by: networking, researching, prospecting, cold-calling, following-up, closing deals and managing accounts.

Key Accountabilities

  • Identify and develop opportunities for bulk commodity storage sales, focusing mainly, but not exclusively within the industrial agricultural sector.
  • Networks with prospect potential customers and collect information to determine business potential.
  • Establishes, develops, nurtures and maintains business relationships with both current and prospective customers.
  • Follows up on leads and delivers effective presentations to potential customers and generates sales.
  • Represents Norseman Structures products in a professional manner to all potential clients in the assigned territory.
  • Enters and updates pertinent project opportunity information in Sales Force on an ongoing basis and ensures this information is up to date and available for the weekly construction meeting.
  • Creates and manages a customer account information in Sales Force for existing customers, highlighting key contacts, decision makers, account profile, and project opportunities.
  • Plans and organizes a personal sales strategy in a logical, cost effective manner for the assigned territory and/or product segment to maximize value and minimize expenses.
  • Generates and expedites resolutions to customer problems and complaints.
  • Communicates and collaborates with various internal departments (e.g., marketing, sales management, accounting, logistics and technical service groups) to successfully coordinate the sales effort.
  • Prepares accurate quotations.
  • Provides management with oral and written reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis. 
  • Plans, participates and reports on trade shows, industry/association events and conventions. Create action plans for outcomes of these activities.
  • Creates and develops a professional business plan and sales strategy for the market to attain company sales goals and ensure profitability.
  • Actively engage in professional development opportunities that align with skills and competency development strategies agreed to with manager during the performance management process.
  • Provides quality customer service and after-service follow up.
  • Appropriately communicates brand identity and corporate position.
  • Adheres to legislations, company policies, procedures and business ethics code.

Working Relationships

  • Reports directly to the Senior Director, Business Development.
  • Interfaces directly with: Marketing, Accounting/Finance, Customer Services, Construction
  • External Contacts: Existing Customers, Prospective Customers, Strategic Construction Supply Chain Partners, Market/Industry Influencers, Identified Norseman Structures dealers that have strategic partnership arrangements with Norseman Structures.


  • Post-secondary education will be an asset.
  • Previous experience working within the agricultural industry, particularly in commodity storage or handling would be an asset.
  • 5-10 years of industrial sales experience with a proven track record of achievement in sales growth and new business development.
  • Strong analytical skill and problem solving abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently or as part of a team.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite (notably MS Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint), internet browsing & email.
  • Customer Relationship Management software (Sales Force) experience.
  • A valid drivers’ license and access to your own vehicle (travel will be required).

Work Conditions

  • Extensive travel required to visit customers and attend tradeshows.
