Logistics Specialist

We have a unique position in our Saskatoon office reporting to the Director of Corporate Services.  The Logistics Specialist will be accountable for establishing the strategic and tactical transportation and logistics practices for both international and domestic transportation requirements, including legal and customs formalities in all jurisdictions where the company operates

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Develop and direct logistic processes and establish ongoing improvement plans for freight management, vendor routing, and carrier management.
  • Manage strategic relationships with Logistic suppliers.
  • Negotiate with and manage contracts and service level agreements for third party suppliers and/or service providers.
  • Develop strategies and practices that deliver cost effective and risk-managed outcomes
  • Create, monitor and report on weekly and monthly logistics key performance indicators.
  • Effectively plan, organize, execute, and evaluate all aspects of international and domestic logistics.
  • Establish logistical policies and procedures that are consistent with Norseman’s core values.
  • Align product delivery with project specific requirements
  • Develop and sustain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, suppliers, other commercial entities, customs brokers, and customers.
  • Deal with imports and exports shipped to and from the company; work with customs officials to ensure compliance.

  • Excellent computer skills, advanced proficiency in Excel.

Education/Experience

  • Completion of post-secondary education and 5 years’ experience in a related field.
  • International logistics experience.
  • Knowledge of logistics within the building industry.
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian import and export regulations.
  • Working knowledge of Transportation Regulations such as IATA, WHMIS, IMO, and IMDG

This is an office position located in the Saskatoon Norseman Structures facility.

This is a salary position with a normal 40 hour work-week.
