Summary

Reporting to the Vice President, Partner and Business Development, the Director, Dealer Development is responsible to develop strategic direction and execute action plans related to the growth and development of Dealer Partners. This strategy leverages the experience and capabilities of Dealer Partner companies that operate in targeted regions with demonstrated capabilities in sale to end use customers, general contracting or essential trades.

The Manager, Dealer Development works collaboratively with the Senior Director, Business Development, Corporate Sales team, VP, Sales & Marketing and other departments within Norseman. Guided by the corporate strategic plan, the Manager, Dealer Development will identify, develop and expand relationships with Dealer Partners in specific targeted regions of North America.

The Manager, Dealer Development drives revenue growth in Norseman’s business development efforts by working with Dealer Partners to identify sales and marketing opportunities and structure solutions.

Key Accountabilities

Dealer Development – Existing Dealer Partners

  • Primary focus will be on the existing network of Dealer Partners.
  • Develop and maintain trusted and strong working relationships with Dealer Partners, key stakeholders, management and employees.
  • Understand the strengths and weaknesses of each Dealer Partner to assist them in developing a business plan for growth and stability in all areas of business.
  • With the assistance of Norseman Marketing, design, develop and implement strong marketing and sales plans in collaboration with the dealer partners to complement their Business Plan.
  • Be Fiercely Reliable in responding to Dealer Partner needs through technical sales support.
  • When required, aid the Dealer Partner in the completion of quotes and proposals that ensure they are positioned for success.

Business Development – New Dealer Partners & Markets

  • Evaluate existing Dealer Partners and identify gaps in coverage and service.
  • Ensure an effective plan is in place for recruitment, retention and development of Dealer Partners.
  • Identify new market opportunities, design and develop business plans to approach these markets, and present to VP – Partner and Business Development.
  • Engage in industry networking opportunities to promote and elevate the Norseman Structures brand and project capabilities.
  • Interact with influencers and organizations throughout the various industry segments to evaluate on-going market conditions and build a network of contacts that will ensure Norseman Structures has awareness of upcoming markets, opportunities and the capabilities to execute projects in targeted regions.

Management and Leadership

  • Develop strategic and tactical plans for dealer sales and operations. These plans and associated budgets will be reviewed with Vice President – Partner and Business Development.
  • The Manager, Dealer Development, is the Liaison between the Norseman Dealer Network and the internal Operations teams.
  • Establish and execute action plans to meet and exceed Norseman Structures’ objectives for growth of sales revenues and profitability.
  • On a monthly basis: Review with dealers their sales to date, any market changes that will/are affecting dealers’ ability to meet sales goals. Mutually formulate adjusted action plan to achieve agreed sales goals; Present and discuss report summary to Vice President – Partner and Business Development. Adjust business and action plans to reflect any changes required for dealer/NS to meet sales performance goals.
  • On a quarterly basis: Update the Dealer Tier summary and review with Vice President – Partner and Business Development. Update Action plans for upcoming 3 – 6 months based on updated results; Prepare a quarterly market intelligence report, present and discuss report with Vice President – Partner and Business Development. Formulate action plan to address changing market influences.
  • Collaborate with leadership of other departments to ensure cross-departmental efficiencies in winning and executing projects through strategic partners.

Operational and Financial Leadership

  • Support the development of policies and procedures for working with Dealer Partners to ensure project delivery optimization and compliance with established standards and regulations.
  • Identify systems and processes that improve the daily interaction of various departments with Dealer Partners.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure appropriate tools are in place to estimate project costs, set budget targets, monitor progress and report results of projects executed by Dealer Partners.
  • Support the supply chain team to identify and develop a network of professional organizations to execute trades services in specified regions.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education is preferred.
  • 10+ years’ management and business development experience preferably managing a dealer network.
  • In-depth knowledge of B2B sales and marketing practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of end user buying practices and cycles in agriculture, commercial and industrial markets. Understanding of Government bids and buying would be an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management and logistics.
  • Extensive experience in formulating, presenting and implementing business sales and marketing plans.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
