Structural Engineer

The Structural Engineer is responsible for ensuring accuracy of design, specifications, technical reports and cost estimates. He/She is well rounded and motivated to be involved in the complete spectrum of the project from feasibility to quoting to execution.



  • Prepares engineering proposals, design criteria, preliminary designs, detailed engineering specifications and reports
  • Performs structural analysis and detailed design for buildings and building accessories
  • Provides analysis, design, and cost estimates for sales quotes and custom building projects
  • Works with the Customer Service, Sales, and Detailing Departments to ensure the accuracy of project specific details and design criteria
  • Provides leadership regarding design, design changes and completion of drawings
  • Communicates directly with external clients regarding foundations, installation of project specific equipment and potential building modification.
  • Ensures projects meet regulatory requirements and environmental directives
  • Provides engineering support during construction, attends project design and site meetings, and carries out field reviews
  • Interacts with clients and manages customer expectations by providing excellent service and enhancing the reputation of the firm


  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and eligibility for Professional Registration with APEGS.
  • Junior Engineer = 1-3 years of experience.
  • Intermediate Engineer = 4-10 years of experience.
  • Experience with STAAD.Pro or other similar FEA programs.
  • AutoCAD experience is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple projects, performing variety of task, and meeting simultaneous deadlines.
  • Able to identify innovative technical approaches to structural engineering.
  • Ability to accurately apply codes and regulations.
  • Ability to coordinate with all disciplines, extract and relay relevant information for complex projects.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Self-starter and team player.

This is an office position located in the Saskatoon Norseman Structures facility.

This is a salary position with a normal 40 hour work-week.
